Rodrigo Moreno’s barnstorming recent performances prove that Marcelo Bielsa was right to place so much trust in the Leeds United attacker.
That is according to ex-Whites forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Rodrigo’s man-of-the-match display against Burnley on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa was suitably impressed, telling Leeds Live: “I think that we saw a version of Rodrigo close to what he’s capable of. When he finally finds his full form, he is a player that is very unbalancing.”
The Spaniard netted twice in a 4-0 win, making it three goals in two matches after also hitting the back of the net against Spurs last weekend.
Whelan heaped praise on the 30-year-old, claiming that he had silenced his critics in recent weeks.
“Look at what he did at the weekend with his two goals,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“You won’t see too many goals scored better than that, with that sort of confidence.
“Hopefully now he can take that on to the end of the season. Now we’re starting to see the player that Bielsa signed for £26million, because people were questioning him.
“After last Saturday and again against Burnley, maybe some of those question marks have been taken away.”
Rodrigo swapped southern Spain for West Yorkshire in the summer when he signed from Valencia on a four-year contract.
The 25-cap Spain man has featured 29 times in all competition, scoring eight goals and laying on two assists.
