Leicester City join race to sign Mohamed Konate – sources
Leicester City are working on a deal to sign Burkina Faso striker Mohamed Konate when his contract expires, sources have told Football Insider.
Konate, 26, is out of contract with Russian Premier Liga side Akhmat Grozny this summer and will leave the club to explore his options.
Alongside the Championship winners, French side Brest and giants Lyon are also on alert with the potential to bolster their attacking options.
The striker has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season, and with Leicester looking to add to their firepower, Konate represents an attractive option, particularly given his availability for free.
Konate has given an exclusive mandate to FIFA agent Willie McKay to speak to interested clubs about a potential move in this transfer window.

Leicester have been charged with breaches of financial rules and could face a points deduction upon their arrival in the Premier League, so the option of a free transfer is an appealing one.
Their financial situation means they could be working on a limited budget this summer.
Standing at 6ft, 3in, the striker represents a different option to the likes of Patson Daka and Tom Cannon and would bring something different to Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Kelechi Iheanacho, meanwhile, has rejected offers of a new deal at the King Power, while Aston Villa have held talks with his representatives about a possible transfer, Football Insider revealed.
Konate, in that case, would provide a replacement for the Nigerian.
The forward has a history of considering his options upon the expiry of his deal, having made six free transfers already in his career, according to Transfermarkt.

He has also impressed on the international stage with Burkina Faso where he has scored six goals from 25 appearances, representing them at the latest Africa Cup of Nations where he found the net once in three appearances.
