‘Leicester fans celebrate as conflicted Harvey Barnes strikes for Newcastle’
Leicester fans ironically celebrated after their former star Harvey Barnes scored for Newcastle in the two sides’ meeting at the King Power.
The Foxes’ fans have been subjected to a miserable fun of form, as their team have won just one game, whilst losing the other 13, in their previous 14 matches.
Newcastle’s in-form Jacob Murphy opened the scoring in the third minute, before making it 2-0 in the 11th minute.
Whilst both of the Englishman’s goals drew a celebration from the Magpies’ travelling fanbase, Barnes’ goal against his former side drew a unique reaction.
Leicester fans celebrate Harvey Barnes goal against them
Having last seen their team score a Premier League goal on 26 January in a 2-1 win over Tottenham, the Foxes fans decided to get in on the fun when Barnes scored Newcastle’s third of the night in the 35th minute.
The England international respectfully chose not to celebrate after scoring a tap-in, looking uncomfortable as he did so, and the home fans could be heard breaking into applause on the Sky Sports footage.
Newcastle World writer Jordan Cronin then posted on X, saying both fans were singing a rendition of “Barnes will tear you apart again”, which could also be heard on the live broadcast.
Although the fans at the King Power Stadium were able to see the funny side of their former man’s goal, ex-Leicester striker Alan Smith was dismayed to see his former team collapse against the Magpies.
Leicester’s losing run sparks concerns for next season in Championship
Football Insider Verdict
Sometimes in football, your team gets destroyed, and it is tough to watch. Leicester fans it seems, are so used to watching their team get turned over that it no longer affects them.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s arrival came with the hopes of not only seeing improved results, but better football aswell.

Instead, the team are on an unbelievable run and had it not been for the almost comedic Tottenham side that gifted them a win, Sunderland’s 20-game losing record would be well within their sights at this stage in the season.
The concern at the King Power now will not only be who takes charge next season, as there is no way Van Nistelrooy will be in charge come the end of the season, but also, how does a new manager motivate a side so bereft of confidence?
Having waltzed to promotion last season, this current set of players look more likely to follow Luton’s current path, rather than bouncing back for another promotion-charge.
