Leicester in advanced talks to appoint Graham Potter as manager – sources
Leicester City are talks over appointing Graham Potter as their new manager, sources have told Football Insider.
Potter is in pole position to land the job after Football Insider revealed on 10 June he had jumped ahead of former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper in the running.
The 49-year-old is keen on a return to management and wants to secure a Premier League job after holding talks with Leicester about their vacant position.
Potter has rejected multiple offers since leaving Chelsea in April last year following a largely forgettable spell at Stamford Bridge.
Sources say a deal to take him to the King Power Stadium could be done in the next 48 hours, but Cooper remains in the running.
Graham Potter could land Leicester job after Enzo Maresca exit
Potter has been among the favourites to land the Leicester job since Enzo Maresca decided to leave the club for Chelsea despite securing promotion back to the Premier League last season.
Cooper has also been strongly linked with the position, while West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is believed to have been another option the club have explored.
But Potter has stolen a march on the duo after talks have progressed and a deal could now be confirmed over the coming days.
The Englishman was previously highly regarded following his successful three-year stint with Brighton before joining Chelsea in September 2022.
His reign at Stamford Bridge didn’t last long, however, as he struggled to implement his style of play and was relieved of his duties just seven months after arriving in west London.
That hasn’t put Leicester off from pursuing a deal to make Potter their new manager as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

But there could be some challenging weeks ahead at the King Power after the club were charged with a breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in March and face a points deduction next season.
Football Insider revealed on 12 June Leicester could lose multiple stars this summer as they look to balance the books.
In other news, Leicester could now land two points deductions in new twist, says expert.
