On-loan Celtic defender Erik Svitachenko has taken to Twitter to give his team-mates a good luck message ahead of Sunday’s vital Old Firm encounter at Ibrox.

The Danish centre-back, who is currently on loan at FC Midtjylland, wished the Bhoys all the best on his personal Twitter account.

“Good luck today Bhoys and let the city be green today” the 26-year-old said.

Sviatchenko move back to Denmark in January, after falling down the pecking order after the Hoops signed Marvin Compper and the emergence of Kristoffer Ajer.

Interestingly, one of Sviatchenko’s two goals for the Bhoys came against Rangers, in the 2-2 Scottish Cup semi-final draw in 2016, which the Hoops lost on penalties and lead to the arrival of Brendan Rodgers.

It is good to see a player who has left the club on-loan still support his team-mates in what is one of the biggest Old Firm games in recent years. A win for the Hoops would see the Bhoys all but clinch their seventh title in a row, whilst a win for the Gers would throw the title race wide open for the first time in a long time. Sviatchenko’s time with the Hoops may be coming to an end, but he will be watching on and no doubt hoping that his departure coincides with the Bhoys winning their seventh title in a tow.
