Levy faces major challenge over reported multi-million pound Tottenham plans after Poch warning
While it would be argue to say that Tottenham’s season has been a failure, there will certainly be a twinge of disappointment in the hearts of the Lilywhite faithful as we enter the final games of the year.
Spurs have been heralded as a success story for the way they have grown from European hopefuls to top four regulars over the last couple of campaigns, and a lot of credit has to go to Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino for their partnership which has allowed the club to flourish.
However, with the club’s hopes of silverware dashed for another season on Saturday, having been knocked out of the FA Cup at the semi final stage for the second consecutive season, there have been critics targeting the north London outfit for failing to make that next step up with the amount of talent they have at their disposal.
The criticism has not gone down well with manager Pochettino, insisting he might have to play his young players in the FA Cup to manage expectations, while also bemoaning the value of the opposition squad his men came up against on Saturday.
He was quoted by the Telegraph as saying: “The most important thing is we competed against a team that spends a lot of money and have unbelievable players.

“With a different philosophy, we were able to compete with this team.”
That philosophy is Levy’s transfer strategy, and such a stark warning could play havoc with the chairman’s plans for the summer.
The Telegraph claim that the top brass are looking to offer Pochettino a new £8.5million-per-year contract in the summer, but without the promise of what the Argentine manager wants in terms of the transfer window, pen will not be put to paper.
In addition, it is said that the club’s top stars, including Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen, are all being eyed for news deals, but if the manager does not sign a deal, then they are all likely to be reluctant.
Levy’s multi-million pound plans could well go up in smoke, and he faces a major challenge to try and get them back on track.
