Liam Bridcutt makes bold claim about Leeds ahead of festive period

By Amir Mir

Liam Bridcutt has boldly claimed that Leeds’ results will get “even better” after picking up 21 points from a possible 27.

Garry Monk’s side have been in a rich vein of form going into the busy festive period as they aim to maintain their top-six spot in the Championship table.

The Whites have picked up wins against the likes of Brentford, Reading and Aston Villa in recent weeks as they now travel to Deepdale to take on Preston North End on Boxing Day.

Midfielder Briducutt only recently returned from an injury during the 2-0 win against Reading on December 13.

In his absence, his side has marched up the league table as he explains the importance of the busy schedule coming up.

“I think if you look at the results we have been picking up over the last few months, I’d probably say we haven’t performed the greatest but we are getting the right results,” said Bridcutt, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Hopefully, if you can imagine us putting in the performances then I think the results will be even better.

“We are looking forward to the next couple of weeks coming up and this is probably one of the busiest parts of the season and one that can shape a season really.”

Captain Bridcutt was on the sidelines for three months with a foot injury but in his absence midfield duo Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips have stepped up to the mark.

Briductt has made six appearances in the league this season, failing to score a goal or provide an assist, but he has come on as a substitute during his side’s last two victories.

Monk’s men are currently in fifth place on 38 points from their 22 Championship games, winning 12 of those encounters.

They will now take on their former boss, Simon Grayson, who has led his Preston side to within five points of the play-offs.
