Liam Cooper has suggested that he wasn’t surprised by Pontus Jansson’s brutally honest Instagram outburst earlier this week when he admitted that his Leeds United form has been “s**t”.
Jansson, 26, took to social media to admit to the fans that he wasn’t playing anywhere near to his best standard after the Whites suffered a third straight defeat against Reading last weekend.
Now, Cooper has revealed that his Leeds team-mates’ outburst may have a positive affect on Thomas Christiansen’s squad ahead of their visit to Ashton Gate on Saturday to play an in-form Bristol City side who haven’t lost a Championship game since the opening day of the campaign.
“Pontus is an experienced player, he’s a great lad and good around the dressing room. He’s an honest kid and if he thinks he’s not been up to it then he will let people know. I think it’s good for the squad,” said Cooper in his pre-match press conference on Friday, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post on their website.
Cooper and Jansson had formed quite the partnership in the centre of defence before their recent downturn in form.
Injuries and suspensions have played havoc with Christiansen’s team selection though in recent fixtures, with the duo barely getting much game time next to one another.
Leeds can move above Bristol City with a win on the road this weekend as Lee Johnson’s side currently sit fourth in the table while the Whites are slightly behind in sixth.
In other Leeds United news, David Prutton has predicted the Whites’ clash with Bristol City.
