Liam Rosenior: Chelsea manager with Arne Slot in fight to avoid sack as betting odds slashed further

Liam Rosenior has been named among the favourites with Arne Slot to be the next Premier League manager sacked after Chelsea lost to Everton on Saturday.

The Blues were thumped 3-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium, courtesy of Beto’s double and Iliman Ndiaye’s superb strike.

Elsewhere, Liverpool were beaten 2-1 at Brighton when Danny Welbeck scored twice to cancel out Milos Kerkez’s clever equaliser.

Rosenior’s team have now lost four consecutive games across all competitions and have failed to score in their last three, conceding 12 across the four games.

The Chelsea manager had already been placed under huge pressure when his side were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday, and Saturday’s dismal display has only intensified the situation.

Liam Rosenior and Arne Slot betting odds slashed

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Friday that Chelsea have no imminent plans to sack Rosenior, despite the catastrophic recent form.

The 41-year-old’s arrival at Stamford Bridge had started well, with the Blues winning seven of their opening nine under him.

But February brought initial problems for the former Hull City boss, with disappointing draws at home to Leeds United and Burnley exposing issues within his team.

Individual errors have been at the heart of Rosenior’s struggles, with the goalkeeping situation in need of particular attention.

Robert Sanchez had been enjoying a good season under Enzo Maresca, but made key mistakes in Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal at the start of March.

Rosenior responded by dropping him for Filip Jorgensen, who subsequently made a critical error against PSG in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

The Dane has since picked up an injury and has been replaced, once more, by a confidence-shot Sanchez, who let Beto’s strike trickle through his legs on Saturday.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior with betting odds inset

One major bookmaker has slashed Rosenior’s odds of being the next Premier League manager sacked to 3/1, while Slot’s loss has seen his own odds shortened to just 2/1.

When could Rosenior be sacked by Chelsea?

Much of the reason behind Maresca’s January exit from Chelsea was that he felt he had been left out to dry by the decision-makers above him.

The Italian criticised the squad-planning and the insistence on the use of young players, which left his squad with few leaders.

It looks as if Rosenior may suffer the same fate, with the Englishman struggling to provoke a reaction from his young squad.

Chelsea do not have a game until the start of April, which could leave Rosenior with a chance to get a grip of his team or provide a chance to relieve him of his duties.
