Liam Rosenior: Chelsea priority made clear as manager retains board support
Liam Rosenior retains the backing of the Chelsea board as they are prioritising a high league finish and Champions League qualification, sources have told Football Insider.
Recent turmoil behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge has called the manager’s position into question again, with doubts emerging amid dressing room concerns.
This comes shortly after questions were raised about the manager’s position following a difficult turn of form and their heavy aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Chelsea are keen to back Rosenior with all eyes on a strong end to the season.
Chelsea have no plans to appoint another manager so soon after making the change to bring the 41-year-old in, and are instead looking long-term.

VISIT THE MANAGER HUBCould Chelsea sack Liam Rosenior amid new concerns?
Football Insider revealed last month that Chelsea are not considering sacking Rosenior and plan to give him “as much time as possible” to implement his plans.
His tenure has largely been successful, and the Blues have now progressed into the FA Cup semi-final, despite dropping to sixth in the Premier League table.

Champions League qualification through finishing in fifth place or higher is the priority between now and the end of the season as Rosenior seeks to ease the pressure.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “For Liam Rosenior right now, the main concern is to make sure that Chelsea qualify for the Champions League.
“Finishing in that top five in the Premier League is the priority. If they don’t meet that goal, you would imagine there will be question marks over his long-term future.
“The club are remaining behind him and are hopeful he can have a good end to the season.
“They remain steadfast behind him that he is the right man to take the club forward, having brought him in from their sister club Strasbourg in January.
“He’s got a lot of pressure on him now to try and make sure Chelsea qualified for the Champions League.”
How could Chelsea’s dressing room issues impact Rosenior?
Rosenior is now being made to deal with the in-house issues after the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella slammed the Blues’ decision-making.
Both players publicly slammed Enzo Maresca’s departure and explained it has taken time to adjust to the new manager’s plans, raising new doubts about his position.

Having seen multiple key players vent their issues in public, alarm bells have been set off at Stamford Bridge, with the owners now facing serious questions.
Brown told Football Insider that Rosenior is having to deal with unhappy players and risks a potential dressing room revolt as a result of their public comments.
Fernandez has already been banished from the first-team plans by the manager, although some feel his actions may have been too harsh in a lose-lose situation.
