Celtic fans lauded Callum McGregor after his goal gave the Hoops the lead in the Scottish Cup Final v Motherwell, which ended 2-0 to the Bhoys, who clinched the domestic treble.

The 24-year-old scored his 12th goal of the season with a superb shot on the half-volley from the edge of the box in the 11th minute of the game.

McGregor has had an excellent season for the Hoops and he once again showed his knack of scoring big goals in big games with the opening goal of the cup final.

One fan was so enthused by the goal that he demanded that McGregor be given a ‘lifetime contract’ with the Hoops.

McGrgeor has went from strength to strength this season, and has timed his run of form well, with plenty of goals at both the start and the end of the season.

The midfielder has become of the first names on the Hoops teamsheet this season, and he also has the ability to play all over the park, as he has played at both left-back and and on the right of midfield, as well as his favoured centre midfield position.

With Scott Brown only having a few more years left for the Hoops before he retires, it seems that McGregor could be the long-term replacement for the Hoops skipper, and perhaps a captain in the making as well.
