Lisandro Martinez reveals his ‘deep emotional imbalance’ in ‘stormy’ new message

Man United defender Lisandro Martinez took to social media to share an astonishingly honest and personal update as he revealed he has hit rock bottom after his most recent injury setback.

The 27-year-old is set to miss the rest of this season and a large chunk of the next after tearing his ACL in United’s 2-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace at the start of February.

Several of his teammates, including Amad Diallo and Mason Mount, took to social media to wish him a speedy recovery, and they wore tracksuit tops during the warm-up sending a similar message ahead of the game with Leicester.

Martinez has since undergone surgery in London and will return to Manchester to undergo rehabilitation on his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Victor Lindelof was the only senior player on the Man United bench for their 1-0 Premier League defeat to Tottenham on Sunday (February 16).

United’s defeat to Tottenham seems Amorim’s side fall to 15th, with eight wins, five draws, 12 defeats, and 29 points from their 25 games.

Lisandro Martinez shares astonishing Man United confession

The World Cup winner had been a key player for United before his injury, starting 31 of his 32 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and providing two assists in his 2711 minutes of action.

Martinez took to Instagram to let the fans know how he’s feeling after surgery, sharing some incredible personal feelings.

“Today, after going through several stormy days where I allowed myself to feel and accept my sadness, helplessness, insecurities, fears, and a deep emotional imbalance, I am reconnecting with my essence and my values, which help me see things from a kinder and more positive perspective.

“I feel immense gratitude for the incredible work and support of Man United, Argentina, my family, friends, teammates, and everyone who took the time to send me a message of encouragement.

“The surgery went perfectly!! Now it’s time to give it my all, with heart and soul, in the rehabilitation process.”

Many Man United fans were left furious with Amorim after he made just one change in their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham, labeling him a ‘coward.’

United will travel to Everton for their next Premier League game on Saturday (February 22) as they seek to somehow salvage their season.
