Liverpool ‘100%’ backed to complete Youri Tielemans signing after journalist’s update – pundit
Youri Tielemans could join Liverpool at the very end of the transfer window, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Tielemans would “100 per cent” improve Liverpool’s midfield.
As quoted by James Peace on Tuesday (30 August), Jurgen Klopp revealed the club were still in the market for a new midfielder but it is becoming increasingly difficult.
The transfer window slams shut on Thursday (1 September) at 11 pm.
CBS’ Ben Jacobs reported last week (27 August) that Liverpool are one of the sides interested in Tielemans, who could leave Leicester City.
Sources told Football Insider last month (18 July) that the 25-year-old wants to join Arsenal as he has less than a year left to run on his contract at the King Power Stadium.
Asked whether Tielemans would improve Liverpool, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent.
“They need help in there, they just need another option.
“[Jordan] Henderson is a good player, [James] Milner is a good player, Fabinho is a good player but [Naby] Keita and [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain have their injury problems. They need reliable players who don’t get injured a lot.
“Arsenal want him as well and I’m sure he could be one who leaves right on the last day to either Arsenal or Liverpool.”

Tielemans has scored 24 goals and provided 24 assists in 163 games across all competitions for Liverpool.
The Belgium international scored the winning goal as Leicester beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final in 2021.
In other news, a finance guru has claimed Liverpool could now throw their weight behind a “historic” Uefa mutiny.
