Liverpool and Tottenham race to sign Eberechi Eze – sources

Tottenham and Liverpool have both registered their interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old Crystal Palace star is in demand after a brilliant end to last season that earned him a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Eze is attracting interest from multiple top Premier League clubs who are all keen to sign him before the August 31st transfer deadline.

Liverpool and Spurs have shown the most concrete interest and are among those readying more formal moves once he returns from a post-Euros three-week break.

Crystal Palace are in a good position following the £50.8 million sale of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and will likely demand a similar fee for Eze.

Tottenham and Liverpool both seek to add Eze’s creativity

Spurs narrowly missed out on Champions League football last season, finishing two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa whereas Liverpool finished third after their title challenge collapsed.

Eight goal contributions in Crystal Palace’s final ten games of the Premier League season, including a goal against Liverpool, earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

The ex-QPR star has made three substitute appearances at the tournament and has now amassed seven England caps in total.

Eze only made 26 starts in 31 total appearances for Crystal Palace last term as a muscle injury saw him miss much of the season. He managed 11 goals and six assists in those outings.

Spurs are increasingly interested in bringing Eze to the club as they look to bolster their attacking option for next season.

Football Insider recently revealed (July 21) that the club are also interested in bringing Dominic Solanke to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
