Finance guru lambasts authorities amid 'terrible' Liverpool claim
Uefa and the French are authorities are refusing to reveal the whole truth about the Champions League final while Liverpool continue to be used as scapegoats.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the events in the build-up to the Reds’ 1-0 defeat in Paris last month (28 May).
The French police appeared to use archaic policing methods to deal with a crowd situation that had deteriorated because of infrastructure and planning failings at the Stade de France.
Both the French authorities and Uefa blamed the disruption on widescale ticket fraud, although this claim has been heavily disrupted.
But as relayed by Inside World Football on Wednesday (22 June), European football’s governing body have doubled down on their stance in a statement given to the French senate.
Plumley lambasted Uefa’s lack of transparency over the issue.

“This is an absolute mess,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“From the outside looking in, we can’t see the full picture. That’s part of the problem. To make an informed decision, you need to be able to see everything.
“Whichever way you cut this, it just leaves Uefa and the French police just looking really, really poor. It’s terrible from a PR perspective because it’s impossible to understand the way they are dealing with this.”
Liverpool have been in constant dialogue with affected fans in the aftermath of the chaos in Paris.
Jurgen Klopp’s side kick-off their pre-season fixture programme ahead of 2022-23 against Man United in Bangkok on 12 July.
