Liverpool could have £30m Marcus Edwards offer accepted – sources

Liverpool can sign Sporting Lisbon star Marcus Edwards for £30million this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that a lot of Portuguese clubs have very high buyout clauses included in player contracts.

He noted that Edwards, 25, was linked with a move to the Premier League in January, but remained in Portugal.

The winger, who began his senior career at Tottenham, has played over 100 matches for Sporting, having made just one Spurs appearance before his exit in 2019.

The Reds could be in the market for a new winger in the summer transfer window, with current ace Luis Diaz having held talks with PSG.

And Edwards is a potential option, particularly given how his current boss Ruben Amorim is the number one choice to take over from Jurgen Klopp, sources have told Football Insider.

The attacker has featured on both wings for the Portuguese club this season, playing a key role in their pursuit of a league and cup double.

He has six goals and eight assists to his name in all competitions, picking up vital domestic and European experience with Sporting in recent times.

Edwards progressed in the Tottenham academy before finding stardom in Portugal, having also represented England at various youth levels.
