Liverpool could have dropped Salah exit hint after source update today - pundit

A Liverpool move for Leeds United winger Raphinha would suggest Mohamed Salah is on his way out of Anfield, according to Kevin Campbell.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the Reds does not need Raphinha unless talks over a new deal with Salah collapse.

Football Insider first revealed Liverpool’s interest in the 24-year-old back in February after he blew their scouts away.

The latest from a Reds source today is the club are making regular checks on Raphinha as well as his teammates Kalvin Phillips and Illan Meslier.

The Brazil international has excelled for Leeds over the past 18 months, predominantly from the wide-right position.

Liverpool’s right-winger, Salah, is in the middle of what are proving to be complex contract negotiations with the club.

He has just over 18 months left on his current agreement at Anfield.

When asked by Football Insider if anything can be taken from Liverpool’s continued Raphinha interest, Campbell said: “Liverpool going for Raphinha could be a sign Salah is on his way out.

“They already have four top players in those forward areas so why do they need Raphinha? Well, maybe the club can’t get this contract sorted with Salah.

“I would like to think Liverpool will work it out with Salah. I would not like to see Salah leave like that after everything he has done for the club. It wouldn’t be right.

“It would be really bad for Liverpool if Salah went. He’s been their best player by some way this season.”

Salah has been in sparkling form for the Reds this season.

He has contributed 15 goals and six assists in 15 games across all competitions.
