Liverpool could secure £15m fee after Shaqiri update from Romano - Whelan
Noel Whelan has tipped Xherdan Shaqiri to leave Liverpool in a £12-15million deal this summer following the player’s recent comments in the press.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds and Middlesbrough striker insisted the time has come for the 29-year-old to leave Anfield in search of regular first team football.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano (July 26th), the winger told CorSport that he has informed Liverpool’s board that he is ready for a new challenge.
He went on to reveal that club chiefs have accepted his decision and will now listen to offers for his services.
A £13million signing from Stoke City in 2018, Shaqiri has two years remaining on his contract at Anfield.
When asked for his assessment of Shaqiri’s future, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs:

“Shaqiri showed again in the Euros how much he has to offer. When he is playing he can be such a threat.
“At his age, he has to be playing every week. Let’s be honest, he is not going to get that at Liverpool. He will get the odd game here and there and a cup match but he is not going to force out any of the players that are in that side.
“He is at a stage in his career now where he needs to move on. It’s not going to happen for him at Anfield, playing regularly. There are plenty of teams out there who could benefit massively from a player like Shaqiri.
“There’s no point in being at a big club if you are not going to be playing. I think we will see him leave for a fee of around £12-15million.”
