Liverpool cut-price offer for Nottingham Forest star Murillo could be accepted – sources

Liverpool have set sight their sights on a potential deal for Nottingham Forest star Murillo amid new doubts over his future at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest are desperate to keep hold of the 21-year-old centre-back but could be forced to let him go if they are relegated or need to raise funds.

As previously revealed by Football Insider, a left-sided centre-back has become a top priority signing for Liverpool in the summer window.

Forest have set an asking price of £40-£50million for the Brazilian this summer but could be forced to slash their demands if they become desperate for cash at the end of the season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side dropped into the relegation zone this week after receiving a four-point deduction for breaching Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Nottingham Forest could lower £50m asking price for Liverpool target Murillo

Forest could be forced into a summer fire sale to lower their wage bill if they are demoted this season, with five of their best players potentially leaving.

Liverpool are keeping tabs on the situation with Murillo one of the names on their defensive shortlist.

Murillo has been a standout performer for Forest this season since joining the club from Corinthians last summer.

He has made 27 appearances across all competitions and has made 23 consecutive league appearances in the heart of Forest’s defence.

Forest boss Nuno was full of praise for the young defender earlier this month: “He has performed really well and I think he has all the characteristics to become even better.”
