Liverpool are expected to recall Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita to their starting XI against Cardiff City on Sunday, Football Insider understands.
The midfield pair dropped to the bench for the midweek Champions League win against Porto after shining in last weekend’s 2-0 Premier League win over Chelsea.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that Jurgen Klopp’s plan, barring any late injuries, is for skipper Henderson and fellow central midfielder Keita to return to the line-up for Sunday’s trip to south Wales.
The duo were on the bench on Wednesday night as Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner returned to the midfield alongside anchorman Fabinho.
Keita has started Liverpool last two domestic matches, which have yielded wins against Chelsea and Southampton, in his most encouraging spell of form since signing from RB Leipzig last summer.
Henderson has been used in a more attacking role of late and he has scored once and supplied three assists in his late four games, two of which have come as a substitute.
