Liverpool expected 4-3-3 v Tottenham: Klopp to make 10 changes

By Emma Sanders

Danny Ings, Divock Origi, Lucas Leiva and Alberto Moreno could all line up for Liverpool in their EFL Cup clash against Tottenham on Tuesday evening.

Jurgen Klopp is expected up to 10 changes to the Liverpool side which beat West Brom 2-1 and as well as the return of a few senior players, a whole host of academy stars could feature.

Liverpool lined up strongly against Derby and Burton in the earlier rounds of the cup competition but Klopp is expected to introduce a number of fringe players and academy stars, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Ings sat out the Under-23s derby win over Everton on Sunday and is expected to start up front for the Reds while Divock Origi is also expected to start after coming on as a late substitute against West Brom.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to feature at some point, though he’s likely to start as a substitute and be introduced alongside Origi or Ings.

Alberto Moreno is expected to start at left-back, allowing James Milner some rest while Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino could all sit out in attack.

Former number one Simon Mignolet could be given his first start since mid September when he was replaced by Loris Karius following Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

Jordan Henderson will miss the game as he serves a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the season on Saturday and Lucas Leiva could be the man to replace him in midfield.

Ragnar Klavan could return at centre-back and, as well as the return of some familiar faces, Marko Grujic, Ovie Ejaria, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kevin Stewart are all expected to appear.

The three academy stars were left out of the Under-23s game on Sunday too and Grujic, who has only made three first team appearances is also likely to be handed a start in midfield.
