Kevin Phillips has claimed Sadio Mane will “certainly think” about a move to Real Madrid if the Spanish giants made a concrete offer to Liverpool.

The former Sunderland and Southampton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, admitted it would be a “huge blow” to Jurgen Klopp to lose the winger.

As revealed by Football Insider, Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of the 27-year-old and has identified the attacker as one of his top summer targets.

Mane has been in superb form for the Reds this campaign, scoring 18 goals in 38 appearances which has led to claims he should be awarded the Player of the Year award.

When asked if the Senegal international’s head would be turned at the prospect of becoming a galactico, Phillips told Football Insider: “I am going to put my head on Sadio Mane. He has achieved everything at Liverpool and we hope that they get that Premier League title and then he has a Champions League and a Premier League.

“Of course, Liverpool fans do not want to hear this but he would certainly think about that. Real Madrid do not come knocking on your door too many times in your career. From the history of players that have been linked with Real, generally, if they want you they get you. We saw it with Coutinho and Barcelona.

“I think he is a top-quality player – the best out of the front three. No surprise he has been linked with Real. It would be a huge blow to lose him.”

The former Southampton forward has scored 77 goals and provided 34 assists since arriving at Anfield in 2016.

Last season Mane came fourth in the Ballon D’Or, behind only Lionel Messi, teammate Virgil van Dijk, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
