This is how Liverpool fans reacted at Anfield when Mohamed Salah’s name was read out before Brighton kick-off
Liverpool supporters made their feelings clear about Mohamed Salah at Anfield on Saturday.
Salah gave an explosive interview after being left on the bench for three successive Premier League games, leading to the star being left out of the Reds’ trip to Inter Milan midweek.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored the only goal of the game to secure three points in the Champions League, dealing without the out-of-form winger in an enormous European clash.
Despite all of the drama unfolding at Anfield, including Slot‘s side searching for their first league win in three games, Salah returned to the bench, and it became clear which side of the argument the fans are on.

Liverpool supporters cheer Mohamed Salah at Anfield
The 33-year-old was bundled up warm on the bench as the players’ names were read aloud by the stadium announcer, and fans all came together in unison.
Taking to X, Jan Aage Fjortoft shared a video from Anfield, alongside the caption: “Fact! Salah got the loudest cheer,” with the fans showing a lot of respect for the club legend.
Salah continues to be linked with a Liverpool exit, but after such a dramatic week, those at Anfield are clearly keen to keep the winger on Merseyside ahead of the January transfer window.
While it has been far from the player’s best season so far, he still has five goals and eight assists to his name across all competitions, and it is extremely likely that he will find his feet again.
Who could sign Salah if he leaves Liverpool in January?
Saudi Pro League sides are keen on Salah’s signature, and have been for several transfer windows, but fans are not ready to say goodbye to a club legend.
After 420 appearances and 250 goals, no player comes close to tying the winger’s shoelaces, and it will be incredibly difficult to replace him if he were to leave Merseyside this season.
Anthony Gordon has been linked with Liverpool before, and his name is cropping up once again as a potential replacement, though he could be a controversial choice, given his spell with Everton.
Fans would much rather wait until the summer transfer window if the legend is to finally depart after eight years with the Reds, but it is unclear if the situation with Slot can be fully repaired.
No player is bigger than the club, which Jamie Carragher has made extremely clear in the media, but it would be a massive shame to see Salah’s status ruined over the saga.
