Liverpool striker and West Bromwich Albion loanee Daniel Sturridge has suffered yet another injury setback with the Premier League strugglers, according to a report.
The Mirror state that the 28-year-old forward picked up a hamstring injury in the third minute of the Birmingham club’s 3-0 defeat against Chelsea in the middle of February and was expected to miss two weeks of action.
But it has now emerged that Sturridge is likely going to be out for a month.
It has been a tough couple of years for the England international whose career continues to be blighted by injuries to prevent him from making a real name for himself both domestically and internationally.
And in a bid to push himself into the thoughts of Gareth Southgate, he made the January loan move to Alan Pardew’s relegation candidates.
It was only his third appearance for West Brom when he picked up the hamstring strain but supporters of his parent club have been largely unsympathetic.
After hearing the news, there were fans calling for the player to call time on his career and hang up his boots as it appears his injury woes are not looking like disappearing anytime soon.
Sturridge is reported to be earning £120,000-a-week

I won't go full blown schadenfreude on #Sturridge but he is made out of egg shells. I'd be injured before the locker room, I know it's a tough game but saying he has a horrible reputation for availability is a water-is-wet understatatement. @WBA – Caveat Emptor.

He gets paid £100k a week because 4 years ago he scored 20 goals and hasn't worked a minute since. Don't feel too sorry for him.

lettuce legs, making a living off doing virtually nothing. I like Sturridge as a footballer but it's rare he plays football.

He should retire… He can't last 5 minutes on a football pitch thesedays never mind 5 matches or a full season. #Sicknote
