'Hated more than Donald Trump' - Liverpool fans destroy 28-yr-old for display in win v Hoffenheim
By Danny Wright
Liverpool put themselves in a commanding position to qualify for the Champions League group stages with a 2-1 with at Hoffenheim on Tuesday night – but fans were not happy with the performance of Dejan Lovren in the first leg triumph.
The 28-year-old was at the centre of what was yet another shaky defensive display from Jurgen Klopp’s side as they almost fell behind in the early stages after the ex-Southampton defender tripped Serge Gnaby in the box to give away a penalty.
Andrej Kramaric missed the resulting spot kick but that appeared to do little in helping quell Lovren’s nerves, as he failed to keep at bay a Hoffenheim team that Liverpool should have been dominating.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and a Havard Nordtveit own goal gave the Reds their two away goals going into the second leg at Anfield next week before Mark Uth found the net in the closing stages to ensure there was a tense finish.
And fans have since blasted Lovren and appeared to have made it clear that they do not want him anywhere near their first team judging by his display at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Tuesday night.

There's no way we can have only theses defenders for the current season. They are awful especially Lovren and Moreno. #LFC

Croatia international Lovren hasn’t been in the best of form since he signed for Liverpool from Southampton in 2014.
He has made a total of 111 appearances across all competition since, but many believe that he must be improved upon in the future.
In other Liverpool news, this Reds attacker is undergoing a medical as he nears his Anfield exit.
