Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Mane performance against Stoke

By Amir Mir

Sadio Mane played the full match as Liverpool beat Stoke City 4-1 at Anfield on Tuesday evening – and fans on Twitter hailed their star player.

The away side took the lead after 12 minutes when Jon Walters headed home Erik Pieters’ cross, but the Reds took the lead before the break through goals from Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino.

After the interval, the home side added a third when defensive-midfielder Giannelli Imbula poked the ball into his own net before substitute Daniel Sturridge made sure of all three points by scoring within moments of coming onto the pitch.

Mane played a huge part in the win as his pace and power caused Mark Hughes’ side a number of problems throughout the match.

The Senegal international has been a big hit at Anfield since his move from Southampton in the summer for a fee of £30 million.

One supporter stated that due to his performances this term, Mane’s big-money price tag has been worth it.

While others stated that he will be a big miss when he goes off to the African Cup of Nations with his home country in January.

Mane has played 19 Premier League and EFL Cup games for Klopp’s side this season, scoring eight goals and providing the same number of assists.

The result against Stoke means Liverpool move back into second place in the Premier League table on 40 points from 18 games, six behind leaders Chelsea.

The Merseyside club will take on third-placed Manchester City on New Years Eve on home soil in what is expected to be a big title clash.

They will then start off the New Year with a trip to the north east to take on David Moyes’ Sunderland.
