Red alert: Moreno faces growing competition for his place next season

By Amir Mir

Alberto Moreno played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool beat Crystal Place 4-2 at Selhurst Park- and fans on Twitter raved about his attacking play, but were critical of his defending.

Midfielder Emre Can opened the scoring for the visitors, thanks to a wonderful Moreno cross, but Dejan Lovren’s howler allowed James McArthur to equalise minutes later.

However, the centre-back redeemed himself by scoring on the other end three minutes later. Palace hit back again, with McArthur doubling his tally.

Then, centre-back Joel Matip rose the highest to nod home from a corner in an enthralling first-half of action.

Forward Roberto Firmino, made sure of the three points, when he dinked his shot over Palace keeper Steve Mandanda midway through the second-half.

Supporters on Twitter praised Moreno for his reaction to be dropped in recent weeks, but many praised his attacking down the left flank, as well as ridiculing him for another poor defensive display.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Spain international Moreno has played seven games in all competitions for Klopp’s side, starting only two league matches.

The Reds will now host in-form Watford on Sunday afternoon, as they aim to maintain their winning streak this season.

In other Liverpool team news, former defender Jamie Carragher has stated this player is key to the Reds title challenge.
