Emre Can gave a dominant midfield display for Liverpool in their 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday – and fans on Twitter were delighted.
The 23-year-old has been heavily criticised for his unconvincing and inconsistent displays throughout his Anfield career, but he has shown great improvement in recent weeks to earn high praise from the Liverpool support.
Can found the back of the net as Liverpool scraped past Burnley in the Premier League last time out, and gave another convincing performance on their trip to the Etihad on Sunday.
Liverpool fans were disappointed not to see their side pick up three points after spurning a number of chances to take the lead against Man City, but took to Twitter after the game to praise Can’s performance.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Emre Can superb today, hopefully a turning point rather than a one off performance😬

Could have won it, should have won it. Didn't lose. Draw is a fair result. Can had a cracker.

However, Can still has considerable work to do to completely win over the Liverpool fanbase.
His current contract will have just one year left to run at the end of the season, but his excessive wage demands have proven to be a stumbling block in Liverpool’s bid to extend his deal.
Can has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and supplying three assists.
In other Liverpool news, Gary Lineker has posted his Twitter verdict of the pulsating draw between the two clubs.
