Liverpool fans react on Twitter as key player reportedly passed fit for West Ham clash

Liverpool fans reacted with relief on Twitter as Joel Matip returned to training ahead of their Premier League clash against West Ham on Sunday.
The centre-back was left out of the squad due to a minor ankle injury as the Reds suffered a dramatic 4-3 defeat in the dying minutes against Bournemouth last weekend.
The Times Merseyside correspondent Paul Joyce reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday that Matip had trained with Liverpool at their camp Barcelona and was “expected to be fit for the weekend”.

It was only Liverpool’s second defeat of the season after they suffered a shock loss against Burnley in just the second week of the new campaign.
Matip joined the Reds in the summer after completing a free transfer from Schalke and Liverpool have not lost a game with him in the side.

He has formed a great partnership with Dejan Lovren in defence and has certainly improved Liverpool’s back line so it was a huge disappointment when he was ruled out of the clash against Bournemouth through injury.
The 25-year-old has great composure on the ball and is highly-rated for his understanding of the game which gives him the ability to make interceptions and blocks.
Matip was a regular for Schalke in the Bundesliga so it was no surprise he joined Klopp in the summer to further develop his career in the Premier League.
He is already considered to be Liverpool’s best summer signing, alongside Sadio Mane, so news of his return to training was received very well by fans.

best put Matip in cotton wool and bubble wrap, the best defender we have. Sooner we replace Lucas and Lovren the better.
