Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Wijnaldum display v Belgium

Georginio Wijnaldum played almost a full 90 minutes for the Netherlands in their international friendly against Belgium on Wednesday night and Liverpool fans were relieved he got through the game unscathed.

Wijnaldum missed the 0-0 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League in October after limping out of a World Cup qualifier against France.

He has only appeared from the bench in the three subsequent Premier League games for Liverpool but scored a goal in the 6-1 demolition of Watford on Sunday.

Liverpool fans praised his performance on Wednesday but were more pleased to see him taken off in the 88th minute unhurt.

Liverpool have enjoyed an excellent start to the season under Jurgen Klopp and are currently one point clear at the top of the Premier League.

They weren’t given much of a chance at the start of the season by bookies, who rated them as an 18/1 shot to win their first Premier league title, but are currently second favourites at 5/2.

Liverpool’s next Premier League game is away at Southampton on November 19.
