Liverpool fans troll Lineker after he slams Klopp on Twitter

By Matt Farr

Liverpool fans have not taken too kindly to Gary Lineker’s criticism of Jurgen Klopp on Twitter following their FA Cup exit to Wolves on Saturday – and trolled the Match of the Day host on social media.

The Reds suffered their third defeat in as many games, and Klopp watched from the sidelines as his side crashed out of arguably their last winnable competition.

They are currently 10 points adrift of leaders Chelsea in the Premier League title race, while they were eliminated from the EFL Cup at the hands of Southampton after their semi-final defeat on Wednesday.

Klopp has chosen to make wholesale changes to his side in recent weeks, and has used a grand total of 24 different players in just their last three games.

His rotation policy has allowed some of his key players to be rested, however, with back-to-back defeats, it does not appear to have been at all worthwhile.

After Klopp made the decision to axe the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and James Milner against Wolves, BBC’s Match of the Day host Gary Lineker criticised his ‘disrespectful’ attitude towards the clash on Twitter.

However, although the results do prove Lineker’s point to some extent, fans have seized the opportunity to troll him on social media for his comments for disregarding Liverpool’s heavy recent programme.

Former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage has also laid into Klopp for his recent selection policy, questioning why Liverpool’s players are being rested if they are playing just two games per week.

Liverpool’s failure to qualify for European competition last season has left them fighting solely in domestic competitions this term, and Savage does not believe that they have needed to make so many changes each game.

Next up for the Merseyside club is a potentially season-ending clash with Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday.

In other Liverpool news, fans were also furious with midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum after his display against Wolves.
