Liverpool midfielder Emre Can could miss the trip to Manchester United in March if he picks up one more yellow card against Newcastle United at the weekend.
The German is on the brink of suspension and supporters are concerned that with the possibility of Jonjo Shelvey playing for the Magpies, he could be lured into the referee’s notebook.
And it is for this reason that the Reds faithful have urged their boss to leave the 24-year-old out of Saturday’s fixture.
With Jordan Henderson a capable replacement, it is not as though Klopp does not have strength in depth should he choose to make the switch to the England midfielder.
Can has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Anfield with Juventus believed to be the player’s most likely destination, although Manchester City and Real Madrid have also been touted.
Serie A giants Juve, reportedly gave the midfielder a seven-day ultimatum to put pen to paper to ensure his future is with Juventus.
The 24-year-old is out of contract with the Reds in the summer but has been one of the Merseysiders best players this season.
Here is what supporters of the club have been saying about Can’s place in the side ahead of the Newcastle game:
