Liverpool fans urge Klopp to start 23-year-old v Leicester after Henderson injury

By Harvey Byrne

Liverpool fans have urged Jurgen Klopp to start young midfielder Kevin Stewart against Leicester on Monday evening following Jordan Henderson’s injury.

The Merseyside giants are preparing to travel to the King Power Stadium on Monday evening which will see them take on the managerless Premier League champions.

The Reds are strong favourites to pick up all three points, but they have suffered a blow after Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce shared on Twitter that midfield star Henderson has been ruled out of the clash with a foot injury.

Senior midfielder Emre Can is the expected player to replace the England international in the centre of the park, while the experienced Lucas Leiva is another option.

However, a number of fans on social media believe the young Stewart to be their best option with many pointing out Can’s recent poor form.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Stewart, 23, has played just nine times for Liverpool in all competitions this season with four of them coming in the Premier League.

He has not featured in the English top flight since a September clash against Chelsea and he has played just 20 times for the Liverpool first team since joining on a free transfer from Tottenham in 2014.

However, if the fans wishes are granted Stewart could use Henderson’s injury as an opportunity to showcase his talents.
