Darren Bent claims that Liverpool fans would be left feeling “absolutely sick” if the Premier League is forced to be ruled null and void this season.
The former England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes more European leagues will start being cancelled after the Dutch FA called off their domestic season with immediate effect.
In a statement released on Friday, the KNVB confirmed that the 2019/20 season would be considered null and void across all divisions in the Netherlands due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The decision means that no team will be considered champions and that there will be no promotion or relegation for next season.
Bent, who believes that other top divisions will now follow the Eredivisie’s lead, admits he is worried that the Premier League could be called off if things do not improve soon.
Bent told Football Insider: “As with anything, it only takes one and then you could see it roll and a few people start to do it. It’s always about who’s going to be first to do it. The Netherlands have done that now.
“Listen, we’d love to be able to get the Premier League up and running again but at the end of the day, if it’s not the right scenario and we can’t do that, where it’s not safe enough to do it, then we can’t do it, unfortunately.
“Liverpool fans will be absolutely sick if the Premier League do it. I’m guessing then the Championship would have to do it and then League One and so on. There would be no promotion, no relegation.
“The knock-on effect would be crazy and you’d like to think they can find a way of doing it but if they can’t, first and foremost people’s health and safety comes first.
“If it comes down to a month down the road from now, two months down the road, if there’s still no clear daylight, that might be the best-case scenario. I hope to God it doesn’t but you never know.”
In other Liverpool news, Bent claims that the Reds may scupper Everton’s plans to sign a “fantastic player” this summer.
