Liverpool handed ‘huge Alexander-Arnold boost’ by top transfer source
Trent Alexander-Arnold has yet to make a firm decision about his future at Liverpool despite continued efforts from Real Madrid.
This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the defender is currently leaning towards a move to Los Blancos.
He has been available to begin pre-contract talks over a move abroad since the start of January, with just five months now remaining on his current deal.
However, Liverpool remain confident they can convince him to remain at Anfield for the long-term future as a key member of Arne Slot’s team.
Brown explained that if they can win the Premier League and challenge in the latter stages of the Champions League, it may be enough to change his mind in what would be a huge boost for Liverpool and their supporters.
However, as things stand, the move to Madrid remains a clear option for Alexander-Arnold and it has been said that he would struggle to turn them down.
Trent Alexander-Arnold yet to make Liverpool exit decision
Football Insider revealed in October that Carlo Ancelotti is the driving force behind Madrid’s move to sign Alexander-Arnold and is pushing the club to agree a deal.
Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that the decision still rests with the player and may not come until later in the season.
“Nothing would surprise me about Alexander-Arnold’s situation,” he told Football Insider.
“I think, at the moment, the odds are in favour of him going to Real Madrid.
“They’ve been talking about a potential move for a while now and it’s definitely an option.
“From what I hear, he’s leaning towards that move because players find it notoriously difficult to turn down Real Madrid when they come calling.
“But if Liverpool win the Premier League and they do well in Europe he might think, why would I want to leave this situation.
“He’s loved by the club and the fans, came through the academy there and all of that.

“So I have no doubt that will play a part in his decision, but it might not come until the end of the season depending on how competitive Liverpool are from now on.
“As far as I know, no decision has been made yet, so both clubs are going to have to keep up their efforts to convince him.”
