Crystal Palace have been handed a huge blow ahead of Sunday’s match with Liverpool, as Loic Remy and James Tomkins are back in the squad, while James McArthur and Patrick Van Aanholt are also set to return.

Remy has missed Palace’s last seven games due to injury, while Tomkins has missed the last three.

Meanwhile McArthur and Van Aanholt completed their respective returns from injury in the Eagles 2-2 draw with Leicester, as they both featured as substitutes.

The fact this quartet is available to return is a major blow to Jurgen Klopp’s side, who will have hoped to face a slightly weakened side, as Mamadou Sakho will miss out due to loan restrictions.

Palace boss Sam Allardyce announced the news from his press conference earlier today via the club’s official Twitter account.

He said: “Obviously Mama [Sakho] can’t play, so it’s important that James [McArthur] is back. McArthur’s back and so is Van Aanholt.

“Remy and Tomkins are back in the squad. [It’s] good to see with such a congested week coming along. We’ll need it over the 7 days.”

Last time Liverpool faced Palace the match ended in a 4-2 win for Klopp’s side, as Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Roberto Firmino and Emre Can all found the net.

When the sides play on Sunday afternoon the Reds will be hoping to increase their chances of a top four finish, while Palace will be aiming to extend the gap between themselves and the drop zone.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds are the bookies favourites to sign this £140,000 a week star.
