Liverpool have found 'perfect' Jordan Henderson replacement after source's £50m update - pundit

Aurelian Tchouameni is the “perfect” long-term replacement for Jordan Henderson at Liverpool.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Reds’ transfer plans.

As revealed by this site on Monday (9 May), Liverpool have registered their interest in signing Monaco star Tchouameni this summer with the Ligue 1 outfit ready to cash in.

The France international is under contract until 2024 but it is understood the Monegasque club are willing to sell – with a fee of over £50million mooted.

McAvennie claims the midfielder is the perfect replacement for 31-year-old Henderson.

“Liverpool have to be looking for Henderson’s replacement at this point,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It makes sense and this kid sounds like the real deal. I’m not going to pretend to know much about him but he’s made over 100 senior appearances and he’s 22.

“THat’s no accident, he’s clearly got something about him. If you want a young player to come in and replace an old player, you want them to have as much experience as possible.

“This guy definitely has that and he has played at a very decent level. In that regard, he sounds like the perfect candidate.

“It’s a big fee for someone that age so he must be half decent.”

Football Insider revealed last month (14 April) that Man City are also pushing hard for in-demand ace Tchouameni.

This site also revealed on 21 April that Liverpool have seen an approach for Jude Bellingham rejected ahead of the summer window.
