Liverpool have pulled off ‘stroke of genius’ after Takumi Minamino reveal via Sky – Robinson
Paul Robinson has hailed the signing of Takumi Minamino “a stroke of genius” from Liverpool after the forward completed a move to AS Monaco.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one pointed to the fact that the Reds have made “very decent money” on the 27-year-old.
On Tuesday (28 June), Liverpool announced that Minamino had completed a move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on a permanent deal.
The Japan international moved to Anfield in a £7.25million transfer in January 2020 from Red Bull Salzburg.
He spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan at Southampton.
According to Sky Sports (29 June), Minamino has joined Monaco in a deal worth £15.4million, of which £2.5million is add-ons.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Liverpool’s business, Robinson said: “It’s been a stroke of genius.
“They have made some very decent money on him.
“Minamino is a top player. He has obviously just not been good enough to break into that Liverpool front three.
“He has been linked with many other clubs with Leeds United being one of them.

“To get £15million from Monaco is a good deal when you consider what they paid for him. They have made a sizeable return on a bit-part player.
“I cannot remember him starting two games in succession. It has proven to be very good business.”
