Liverpool in pole position to sign 6ft 3 international colossus, want deal done ASAP - report
Liverpool have found themselves in pole position to win the race to sign Zorya Luhansk goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that Leicester and Watford are also interested in the 19-year-old shot-stopper, who was expected to join Inter Milan in the summer transfer window before deciding he would rather move to England.
It is understood that Liverpool want to make the 6ft 3in colossus their No 3 choice goalkeeper behind Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet with the Ukraine international being tipped to be a great prospect for the future.
The report adds that the Reds want to get the deal done as soon as possible as the summer approaches.
Football Insider verdict
Jurgen Klopp is not far off from having a squad that is capable of winning the Premier League. In the summer he simply has to go out and improve on his goalkeeper options, but that doesn’t mean signing a back-up option for the future, Liverpool need a worthy shot-stopper who is of first team quality now. Lunin is an excellent prospect for the future. He is already a mainstay for Zorya, appearing 34 times in all competitions this season and keeping 10 clean sheets in the process. At the age of 19, it’s impressive for a goalkeeper to have played so much football and have also earned his first senior international cap. He would be a great reserve option and one for the future, but that shouldn’t distract Klopp from replacing someone like Mignolet and getting in a solid option between the sticks, for example Jack Butland. Liverpool could be three or four good signings away from their first Premier League title.
