‘Liverpool make final Alexander Isak decision in key transfer update’
Liverpool’s attempts to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak have taken another twist that may force Arne Slot to rethink his transfer plans.
Isak is exploring a move away from Newcastle and has not participated in any of the Toon’s pre-season friendlies.
Newcastle value Isak at up to £150million and have rejected a bid from Liverpool in the region of £110m.
Liverpool have already signed striker Hugo Ekitike and forward Florian Wirtz from the Bundesliga, but even with the firepower at his disposal, Slot wants to continue bolster his front line.
Isak move to Liverpool appears off

According to The Standard [August 10th] Newcastle have claimed Isak is not up for sale this summer, prompting Liverpool to back away from trying to sign the 25-year-old.
Liverpool could now move for Newcastle target Yoane Wissa, with the Brentford forward wanting a move away from the West London club.
Newcastle have already had a bid rejected for Wissa, and now could face competition from Liverpool amid their firm Isak stance.
The Toon are in the market for a striker having allowed Callum Wilson to depart at the expiry of his contract, but have so far failed in their attempts to bring a number nine to St James’ Park.
Liverpool to compete with Newcastle for Wissa

Football Insider Verdict
Isak’s future remains uncertain at Newcastle, and whether the striker will now be reintegrated into the squad now a move to Liverpool is off the table.
Howe would be delighted to welcome Isak back amid their ongoing struggles to sign players this summer and Newcastle’s need for a goal scorer.

However, their woes could worsen now they face increased competition for Wissa and the Brentford star could become the next player to reject a move to Newcastle.
The Toon need back-up to Isak, or whoever will be their main striker this season, after William Osula did not impress in their friendly against Espanyol.
Anthony Gordon too has picked up a knock, limiting further the options available to Howe up-front.
Liverpool meanwhile don’t require Wissa, but following the sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, Slot is looking to add an extra forward to his ranks.
Wissa formed a formidable partnership with Bryan Mbeumo at Brentford and is an adaptable forward who can play through the centre or out on the wing.
