Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah has burning issue 'festering and boiling inside him' after confession
Noel Whelan has tipped Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah to put Real Madrid to the sword in this season’s Champions League final.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker admitted he was thrilled to see the Spanish giants defeat Manchester City to set up a “mouthwatering” clash between two “giants”.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Thursday (5 May), Salah confessed “everybody” at Liverpool wanted Man City to lose so they would face Real Madrid in the final.
The Egypt ace admitted the pain of losing to Real in the 2018 final, when he was subbed off with a shoulder injury, has acted as motivation in recent years.
Whelan insisted it was “great” to hear the 29-year-old speak so passionately ahead of the final.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Look, it’s a mouthwatering final, isn’t it? Personally, I wanted Real Madrid to be in the final. What a fantastic game that will be, two giant teams like that out there.

“An all-English final would have been great but either one would have complemented the final, no doubt about it.
“Salah has obviously still got that grit between his teeth from when he came off injured last time with Sergio Ramos.
“He wants to get one back over on them. That’s great. It’s obviously been festering and boiling inside of him and he’s never forgotten that.
“I think players like that don’t forget, they want to set the record straight. He’s one of these players who wants to do it on the big stage.
“You can see him actually doing that because when it comes to big games, big players turn up. He’ll be determined to win that game and to get on the scoresheet.”
