Liverpool news: Pundit baffled by Sky update on Sadio Mane - 'I just don't get it'
Frank McAvennie can’t understand why Sadio Mane wants to leave Liverpool.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on the attacker’s future.
On 17 June, Sky Sports reported Liverpool have agreed to sell Mane, 30, to Bayern Munich for a deal worth up to £35million.
Darwin Nunez, 22, signed for Liverpool on 14 June and will serve as Mane’s replacement.
Despite admitting Liverpool have sealed a reasonable deal for the player, McAvennie can’t understand why Mane wants to leave Anfield.
“I just don’t get it. Why he is leaving? I don’t understand but obviously Mane is his own man,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“So, it’s Bayern Munich. Fair play to him. He’s in the last year of his contract so it’s good business.
“I would take that, it’s a no-brainer for me. Even if it does end up being just £35million.
“They were in a difficult situation with the contract and there wasn’t anything they could do.
“They were never going to keep an unhappy player for another season when they could cash in now and then sign Nunez.
“It’s the best-case scenario. Mane has done so well for them as well so he deserves to go how he wants. “
Mane is out of contract next summer, meaning Liverpool risked losing him on a free.
He joined the Reds from Southampton for a reported £34million in 2016 and has scored 120 goals for the club.
