Liverpool are on the verge of completing the signing of Isaac Christie-Davies on a free transfer from Chelsea, according to a report.
ESPN claims that Christie-Davies, 20, has been monitored by several clubs after being told by Chelsea that he will not have his deal renewed this summer.
It is understood that the left-sided flyer, who can play on the left wing or in the centre of midfield, has been on trial at Liverpool and has managed to impress the club’s chiefs in order to move to Anfield.
Christie-Davies never made a single senior appearance for Chelsea, who finished fifth in the Premier League this season.
Football Insider verdict
Christie-Davies must be a decent young talent if Liverpool see it fit to sign him. His trial period at Melwood would have certainly given the club a good chance to keep close tabs on the 20-year-old and decide whether he would be a good signing. Liverpool fans should not expect to see him in the first team any time soon though, if ever. Christie-Davies is not good enough for the senior squad having never made a first team appearance in his career. He will have to spend a season or two out on loan if he is to become ready for the first team, but given that he is already 20, there’s little chance of that happening. The winger is widely expected to just play Under-23s football for the entirety of his spell at Anfield having already featured in a couple of Premier League 2 games for the Merseysiders during his trial.
In other Liverpool news, this Reds attacker is on the verge of exiting Anfield after completing a medical.
