Liverpool plan to open Andy Robertson talks soon – sources
Liverpool plan to hold new contract talks with Andy Robertson this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that the Reds will sit down with the left-back, 29, to discuss a contract extension once they have appointed a new manager and sporting director.
Sources have told Football Insider (1 March) that Liverpool believe they will keep hold of Robertson well beyond this summer.
The Merseyside giants are not worried about reported interest from Bayern Munich, who look set to lose their first-choice left-back Alphonso Davies to Real Madrid.
Liverpool are confident they will keep hold of Andy Robertson and are planning contract talks this summer
Robertson is a huge fan favourite at Anfield and has been instrumental in their success under Jurgen Klopp since his reported £8million move from Hull City in 2017.
His current deal, which he penned in 2021, is set to expire in the summer of 2026.
Liverpool are keen to keep hold of many of their star players after Klopp departs and, as revealed by Football Insider (11 February), are set to offer Trent Alexander-Arnold a bumper-new contract.
However, they are facing a major stumbling block in their bid to bring top-choice manager Xabi Alonso to the club, with Football Insider revealing (28 February) that the Bayer Leverkusen boss has “reservations” about the Anfield job.

Across 282 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, the Scotsman has bagged nine goals and 64 assists.
Robertson until very recently had the most assists for a defender in Premier League history, but was surpassed by teammate Alexander-Arnold last month.
