Liverpool player ratings v Watford: Attacker has a shocker
By Matt Bullin
Football Insider rates Liverpool’s players from their 1-0 win against Watford at Vicarage Road on Monday night.
Simon Mignolet 7 – Made one good save to tip Capoue’s effort over and generally collected high balls well. A quiet night for the Belgian but he did what was needed when called upon.
Nathaniel Clyne 6 – Had a quiet night, was not tested by Watford really, and when he was he looked solid. Did not offer enough going forward.
Dejan Lovren 7 – Looked good for his £100,000 a week to be honest. Was rarely ruffled, looked organised and dominated in the air.
Joel Matip 7 – Another good performance from Matip, who always looks better alongside Lovren. He martialled the defence well and made a few key interventions as well.

James Milner 6 – Again looked reasonably solid in defence but struggled to get forward down the left because of his right-footed tendencies.
Lucas Leiva 7 – Provided a lovely ball for Can’s goal, protected the back-four well and used possession well. Booked for a silly dive in the first half.
Emre Can 8 – Scored a genuine goal of the season contender, drove Liverpool forward in attack and provided calmness and strength in defence. The 23-year-old was the stand-out player.
Gini Wijnaldum 6 – A quiet game, did a lot of Liverpool’s dirty work and helped the side dominate possession. A scratchy performance to match the scratchy match.
Roberto Firmino 6 – Worked hard but was wasted on the right wing, failed to get into the game as much as he would have liked.
Philippe Coutinho 6 – Did not have enough time to make an impact before he hobbled off after 13 minutes.
Divock Origi 5 – Did not do enough in the first half. The attacker looked slightly better in the second period but the Reds still need more from their main man up top.
Adam Lallana 8 (On for Coutinho 13′) – Looked lively from the moment he came on, unlucky not to score in the first half as he struck the bar. Put in a fantastic shift considering he has only been back in full training for a week.
Daniel Sturridge 6 (On for Origi 84′) – Not enough time to make an impact. Very unlucky not to score in the dying moments.
Ragnar Klavan 6 (On for Lallana 86′) – Sured up the defence when he came on.
In other Liverpool news, Reds fans reacted as Lallana was left out of the starting XI versus Watford.
