Report details Coutinho injury update ahead of Liverpool clash against Southampton - report

Liverpool should have Philippe Coutinho available for selection against Southampton, according to a report.

The Daily Mirror claim that the 24-year-old has handed the Reds a major boost ahead of the weekend.

It is understood that their were concerns of a serious injury after he limped off in the 13th minute against Watford on Monday night, but the medics confirmed it was just a dead leg.

The report details that the attacking midfielder is set to miss training until Thursday, but should be available for action on Sunday.

Liverpool managed to scrape past Watford 1-0 in the league despite losing their talisman Coutinho early on and Emre Can scored a sensational bicycle kick to secure the three points.

They now have just three games remaining and are guaranteed a top-four finish if they pick up maximum points as they look to return to the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side host Southampton in their next fixture, before an away match against West Ham in the penultimate game and they finish the campaign at home to Middlesbrough.

Liverpool will be hopeful the playmaker Coutinho will be fully available for their side as he has been one of their most influential players this season.

He has made 33 appearances across all competitions this campaign, scoring 11 goals and supplying eight assists in return.
