Steven Gerrard has labelled Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Watford on Monday night as a “massive win” in their pursuit of Champions League qualification.
Emre Can scored what could be a goal-of-the-season contender in first-half injury time, as he acrobatically volleyed home a chipped pass from Lucas from the edge of the area.
Liverpool legend Gerrard, who is working with the Reds’ youngsters, described Can’s effort as a “special goal” on his personal Instagram account as Jurgen Klopp’s side draw clear in third.
The win sees Klopp’s side go three points clear in third, behind Tottenham and Chelsea, after Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal all dropped points over the weekend.
The Merseyside giants held on to all three points and their 20th league win of the season despite Walter Mazzarri’s Hornets hitting the bar through Sebastian Prodl in the 94th minute.

With three games still to play, Liverpool have played one more than their rivals as they strengthen their grip on Champions League qualification.
They next go up against Southampton on Sunday, as Klopp looks for his side to avoid a repeat of their EFL Cup semi-final against the Saints which saw Liverpool lose both legs 1-0.
Germany international Can has proven to be an influential part of the Liverpool side despite doubts over his future, as his contract is set to end in the summer of 2018.
Making 37 appearances in all competitions, the former Bayer Leverkusen ace has scored five important goals against Crystal Palace, Burnley and now Watford as well as laying on three assists.
In other Liverpool news, Simon Mignolet has delivered this verdict on the win and the Reds’ top-four hopes.
