Liverpool should replace Andy Robertson with ‘incredible’ duel king who ‘plays like Paolo Maldini’
Liverpool should look to sign a Serie A star who was once likened to AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini.
The Reds made plenty of big moves in the transfer window just gone, adding to the squad that was crowned champions of England last season.
Alexander Isak joined Liverpool as the major coup of the summer, whilst Florian Wirtz was another big name to move to Anfield.
The Reds also signed Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, putting an end to the legendary duo of Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold as the club’s first-choice fullbacks.
However, the Hungarian defender has struggled since moving to Merseyside, and with Robertson’s career seemingly in its final stages, Liverpool may move for a player once tipped to join their Premier League rivals.

Andrea Cambiaso touted for move to European giant
Andrea Cambiaso was linked with a move to Man City last year as Pep Guardiola’s side searched for a solution at left-back.
The Sky Blues instead signed Rayan Ait-Nouri in the summer, but the Juventus man remains highly-regarded.
Capable of playing both left and right-back, and adept in the wide areas of midfield, the 25-year-old would be a quality option for the world’s best teams.

And Juventus manager Igor Tudor reinforced that idea in his press conference before the Old Lady’s clash with Atalanta.
The Italian giants’ coach said when asked if Cambiaso could play in midfield: “He could play as a winger; he has a different mindset, he sees the game as a midfielder too.
“He needs to be more consistent; he’s potentially a player for the best clubs in the world, but he has to decide.
“If he decides, he can play for Real Madrid, Liverpool, or Manchester City.”
Cambiaso the perfect choice for Liverpool
Despite a stuttering start to the season, thanks to a red card against Parma that saw him miss two Serie A games, Cambiaso has already made a sizeable impact in the 2025-26 campaign.
The wing-back has consistently been one of Juventus’ best performers when available, featuring on both sides of Tudor’s defence.
And looking at last season’s stats, its easy to see why the Old Lady’s boss thinks Cambiaso is going all the way to the top.
No player had a better long pass completion percentage in Serie A than the 25-year-old’s 82.3%, and the defender also created 34 chances in 33 games.
Liverpool have long relied on their fullbacks to not only get forward and create chances for their attacking players, but also to have the energy to get back and perform their defensive duties.

Cambiaso thrives in this department, making 116 recoveries whilst also winning 102 duels last year.
In fact, the former Genoa man is so capable as both a defender and a two-footed one at that, Mauro Tassotti compared him to Italian legend Maldini.
The AC Milan legend’s former teammate told La Gazzetta dello Sport in December 2023: “I was immediately struck by Andrea’s ability to play both left and right. And above all his ability to kick with both feet.
“I haven’t yet understood whether he is right or left-footed. In this sense, he is similar to Paolo Maldini who, however, was much more powerful from a physical standpoint, had incredible charisma and was also very strong defensively, so much so that he ended his career as a centre-back.”
Robertson has been a stalwart for Liverpool and deserves immense respect, but if the Reds have the opportunity to sign a player who looks perfect to slot into that role, they should jump at the opportunity.
