Liverpool are looking to sign 23-year-old full back Andy Robertson from Hull this summer, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claim that the Merseyside giants are closing in on Robertson, who operates on the left side of the defence.
It is said that the fee for the proven performer would be around £8million as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve his side with European football on the horizon.
This season Liverpool have turned to midfielder James Milner to take up the left-back role, ahead of out of favour defender Alberto Moreno, but Klopp appears to want to bring in a more natural defender.
Robertson has made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Tigers this season, scoring his only goal in a 2-1 win over West Ham at the start of April.
Football Insider verdict:
James Milner has been somewhat of a revelation at left back for Liverpool this season, but it is understandable why Jurgen Klopp is searching for a replacement. With European football returning to Anfield next season, Klopp knows he will need a good quality of squad depth to compete on numerous fronts, and with Alberto Moreno clearly out of favour, a left back should be a priority. Whilst he has not set the league alight, Andy Robertson represents a low risk option at just £8m, which is a bargain in today’s modern market. A proven Premier League defender with Hull (despite two relegations), it is time for him to step up a level and would prove at least a useful squad player to Jurgen Klopp.
