Liverpool to open Trent Alexander-Arnold talks after two deals finalised – sources
Liverpool are set to ramp up contract talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
Alexander-Arnold, 25, has recently been linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid amid a lack of movement regarding a new deal.
There has been a mass upheaval of backroom staff at Anfield in recent months, with former sporting director Jorg Schmadtke leaving in January while manager Jurgen Klopp will depart at the end of the season.
However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the arrival of Richard Hughes as the Reds’ sporting director and Michael Edwards’ role as FSG’s new CEO of football will see contract talks progress after the Euros.
The agreement of those two deals will pave the way for Liverpool to look to get a deal for one of their outstanding players over the finish line.
Liverpool plan Trent Alexander-Arnold contract talks this summer
Sources told Football Insider last month (11 February) that Alexander-Arnold is set to be offered a long-term bumper new contract by Liverpool following eight years of senior service.
Hughes is set to move to Anfield ahead of the new season after he leaves Bournemouth, while Edwards has already begun work at Liverpool since his return earlier this month (12 March).
Alexander-Arnold joined Liverpool aged six and his current contract, which nets him a reported £180,000-a-week, is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
He remains out injured after picking up a knee injury against Burnley last month (10 February) but is reportedly set to return to training in two weeks.

Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table and were most recently eliminated in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after their defeat to rivals Man United before the international break (17 March).
They are next in action against Brighton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon (31 March).
